The outer skin of The Geode, a warm patina of iron Corten, is broken by a clean sheath of glazing, which reveals a layer of precious “stone.” The lobby, atrium, and public circulation spaces are all connected as though a vein of beautiful mineral within the earth make up the first layer of The Geode.

From outside the building, one can see colorful jewel boxes break through the inner layer of stone in a surprising rhythm, representing the Harajuku culture popping out amidst the traditions of Japan. Collaborators: Tom Bett & Mary Maloney
